I am not exactly at the highest weight I have been. Only because I have been pregnant 2 time. I was 194 when I had my second baby. A few months after I had her I did Weight Watchers and went down to 126. I was satisfied but slowly and I mean slowly gained it back in the past 4 1/2 years. I was steady around 142-3 area for a while but gained more this year. I was at 152 yesterday and had been contemplating doing another diet for a while. I did not want to go back to WW because I had to limit intake, and to be honest, I love food and eating. Not to the point that it comforts me or I have an eating problem. I just love the taste and variety. I love chimichangas, burgers and such. I could do without all the baked goods and sugary snacks. I am not a sugar addict or anything.
My parents have done Atkins and loved it. They do not do it now but my mom goes on induction and carb limiting when she wants to loose a few. She is good at limiting carbs anyway most of the time. She did read the Atkins book so she gets the concepts. I felt that I could do Atkins because you do not have to go hungry at all. And best of all I can have my chimichanga on induction. Ok, not a real chimi but almost. I can have all the inside meat, sour cream and guacamole.
I have heard the idea that you are not supposed to have sweet tasting stuff during induction. The idea is that even if it contains no sugar to create insulin artificial sweeteners can cause some people to create insulin just by the taste. And during induction you are supposed to teach your body to burn fat for energy and not use insulin creating glucose for energy. This is also supposed to happen with caffeine. Plus insulin can cause you to have cravings. Well, I don't get cravings for sugar anyway when not on Atkins so I am going to ignore this little tidbit of information. And it said for some people. I am not some people. If I am anything like my mom she is not some people either. If I start to stall, get cravings or not loose like I think I will I will go back and fallow this. But I don't think it is going to happen. Plus on the induction list it says you are allow to use and have Splenda. Um, isn't that sweet? Won't that cause some people to have cravings and produce insulin in some people? Um contradictory much?!
